Research Incubator

The Clinical and Translational Research Incubator is designed to serve as a hub for resources and networking opportunities for established researchers and junior clinical investigators who are working on novel, interdisciplinary and collaborative clinical research at Virginia Commonwealth University. The RI will support its investigators by coordinating and optimizing current resources and by developing innovative new resources to facilitate the research process. It is anticipated that faculty researchers from the schools of Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Social Work, as well as the College of Humanities and Sciences, will access services at the RI.

Currently, the RI houses two biostatisticians, a grant writer and two research liaisons. Services include:

  • Initial assessment of investigator needs.
  • Identification of, and facilitated access to, core resources at VCU.
  • Study design and statistical consultation.
  • Assistance with finding funding opportunities.
  • Assistance with regulatory compliance including IRB submissions and development of human subject consents.
  • Research proposal development and submission.
  • Assistance with translation of clinical developments to the community for implementation and to industry partners for commercialization.

Both senior and junior faculty are invited to submit requests to the RI for use of the RI’s resources.
