Campus Community Leadership Team

The Campus Community Leadership Team is a diverse group of community leaders, academic scholars, researchers and community activists who bring varying perspectives and expertise to the Community Engagement Core. The overall task of the Leadership Team is to guide a variety of community engagement activities so that the VCU Center for Clinical and Translational Research can build strong community-academic partnerships to promote the health and well-being of those in the Greater Richmond community through research and service.

A particular focus is placed on improving health and promoting health equity. The work of the Leadership Team is accomplished through its three working groups, with each group led by a community and university co-chair.

Capacity Building Working Group

Objectives:

  • Identify barriers and facilitators to community-engaged research
  • Identify and support training opportunities for faculty and community members
  • Increase research collaborations between Monroe Park and MCV campuses

Community Outreach and Education Working Group

Objectives:

  • Engage with communities and ensure mutual benefit
  • Identify key health issues and assemble diverse stakeholders to address these issues
  • Improve communication and build trust

Health Care Providers Working Group

Objectives:

  • Ensure translation of research to clinical practice
  • Foster closer collaborations between providers and researchers
